The Basics
This is the first semester where I’m going to be treating the final showdown as an interview. You, me, and a guest critic from NYC’s creative industry. This how it’s going to work.
Dates: Monday, May 9th and Wednesday, May 11th – sometime in the evening when class is normally scheduled.
Location: TBA (More than likely in the classroom or in an office just down the hall)
Your Individual Time Slot: TBA. The sequence of interviews will be revealed at 2:00pm on Monday afternoon. I will be checking all websites (a.parsons.edu/~netid/final) at noon to see who has met the basic criteria. If you have not met the minimum requirements, then your name will be brought to the front of the line for Monday’s presentations.Otherwise, all names will be selected randomly from a hat.
Interview Duration: 15 minutes total - 8 minutes to present, 7 minutes for feedback
What I’m looking for in your interview presentation:
1. Introduce of yourself to the guest critic and myself.
2. Introduction of your overview concept (elevator pitch):
“I have made_________for______because_____”
3. Articulation and detailed design process – from market research, discovery, how you sorted your information architecture, conceptualizing the visuals vs. the visuals of your precedents, end results, evaluation and user-testing.
4. Conclusion of your original concept vs. what you would have done differently vs. what you have done successfully.
What I’m looking for in your prototype:
- Consistent, clean, and audience-conscious design
- Cross-browser compatibility (IE 7, 8, FF 3, 4, Chrome and Safari)
- Minimum of five coded pages (Sliders can count as more than one. Overlay content types using Lightbox, Shadowbox, Colorbox, Fancybox are not included)
- Must be located on your server space in the following directory (a.parsons.edu/~netid/final)
Second Chance (or extra credit)
Based on your presentation and how you have completed for this interview will determine your points and credit for the entire week. Your final prototype will be given a second chance at improving its grade on Monday, May 16th at noon. All projects due then.
