Develop Style Frame Package

Previous Page

Decide – are you going solo or will you have a pair of sidekicks? You are welcome to branch off on your own OR remain in groups. No matter what you choose to do, as an individual or partnership,  everyone MUST follow their finalized wireframes. Styles are a free-for-all. I am requiring you output three (3) styleframes, that each represent a different layer or section of your site. One of them must be a re-addressed homepage.

  • Am I really blowing up the key promise and message?
  • Am I making navigation intuitive?
  • Is my content and message legible?
  • How is my information hierarchy? Does it make sense what I want the user to see first and understand?
  • Is there any component that is evoking the straight-jacket feeling? If yes, then fix it.
  • Below is what you’re looking to achieve through your styleframes (as well as what I’ll be looking for):
  • Am I practicing consistency in layout, color scheme, alignment?
  • Am I using my real-estate effectively? Do I see any orphan elements?
  • Is my visual flow reinforcing the content essentials? How is my eye wandering when it first meets the browser?
  • Does the visual flow tell the story WITHOUT the content essentials?

Deadline: Monday, February 21st at 9:00PM

I will be providing feedback on them on Monday (2/21, no on-site class). You will then have until Wednesday (2/23) to spruce them up, considering my notes. I will be closely examining how much you change according to my feedback.

Please do a one (1) paragraph commentary on the following video. It’s not necessarily related to the “web” but it’s definitely geared toward a virtual environment. You really have to question how game design could apply to your work in this class (or beyond). Where are the differences? Where are the similarities? What could you apply or what did you find misleading/insightful? Please include answers to these questions in your responses.

If you thought I was harsh when analyzing your IA (information architecture) and UX (user experience), expect the same constructive criticism when the class examines your UI (user interface).
